Consisting of two Grade II listed Victorian factory buildings, the bell foundry is a unique place with a global architectural and historical significance.

Home to The John Taylor Bell Foundry, the ancient craft of bell founding has been practised here since 1859. This foundry has cast more than 25,000 bells that are hung in over 100 countries around the world.

Centuries of experience, together with up to the minute advances in technology, has put Taylors at the forefront in the design and manufacture of bells, their fittings and frameworks. They produce single bells, pearls of bells, chimes and carillons , together with sets of musical hand bells and other small bells for customers worldwide.

The two hour visit will begin with a short talk about the foundry, followed by a tour, this will include a visit to the joinery shop, the tuning shop and the fabricator shop.

The tour will then continue, you will be taken up to the viewing balcony to view the Foundry Hall, where the bells are cast. Depending on the foundry schedule there may be an opportunity to see a bell being cast.
