Pankaj Wara (Warren), Coleshill Aluminium writes –
I left my home in the morning and was greeted by a downpour of rain, there was no evidence of knowing if the rain was going to stop, so I continued my journey to Barlaston and as I got closer the clouds had shifted and a clear blue sky appeared, phew!
All the morning players arrived on time to enjoy their breakfast and they all teed off for the Texas Competition. The course was in excellent condition.
Winner of Morning Event Tony Barlow and Oliver Dreslin 33,3 points
Second – Sourcing 4 Success team – 31.75 points
Lunch was enjoyed with the afternoon players eager to tee off for the main event.
About 4 hours later the players appeared on the horizon walking towards the 19th hole where Stephen Gill was eagerly waiting to score everybody’s cards for both events in readiness for the prize giving.
Dinner was a delicious 3 course dinner prepared by Steve the chef and his team and we thank them all. After dinner the prizes were presented by Steve Wood, DCS President and Mike Dines Tandom Metallurgical Group (the sponsor).
The Diecasting Society wish to thank Barlaston Golf Club and their staff for providing an excellent golf course and some fine catering. At the Club a big thanks to Jim Pickershill and the lovely ladies in Admin including our own Annie Gough who did a stirling job in putting everything together at such short notice.
May I also thank John Paterson who had organised this event for many years but had to step down for personal reasons. We also thank Simon Olive for his support in this event over the years.
The winner of the main event was Martin Jones with 35pts followed by John Tunstall with 34 pts, however as non-member Martin Jones could not win the cup which was won by John Tunstall being a member of the society
